MY STORY

From Humble Beginnings

My name is Malcolm. one day back in 2017 I was working a 9-5 job building custom pools. Inspired by the craftsmanship of the high end homes I would service, I knew my passion in life would be found in building things. One night after work I dusted off some old tools & decided to build some wooden planter boxes. They turned out okay, pretty good for a first timer. I really enjoyed the process of building those boxes. Friom then on, every day after work I was chipping away at a new project. Next I built a desk. Then a framed glass cabinet. My skills & knowledge grew expansively in a short period of time, as all of my free time was devoted to making new creations. At this time I was enrolled full time in Pilot School. I always found myself darting back to the workshop after flying. In 2019 I decided to leave flying behind & pursue my dream of furniture making full time. Through the past couple of years I’ve gained a ton of experience in woodworking & running a business. I’ve built solid relationships with top suppliers in the industry and  am working alongside Niagara’s most renowned home builders. I founded Fonthill Mill Co. in 2019 as a platform to push the art of woodworking to new limits. All of my pieces are hand made from local reclaimed hardwood & eco friendly solid epoxy.  Sometimes in today’s modern world we can forget the beauty in custom, handmade furniture.
